To provide a cleaner, safer and more vibrant environment, MMCBD implements the following services for the community PAID FOR BY PRIVATE PROPERTY OWNERS.
Clean Team
The Clean Team improves the District's cleanliness every day from 7am to 7pm. MMCBD provides sidewalk sweeping, steam cleaning, monitoring of public trash receptacles for overflow, trash removal, tree basin weeding, reporting large item removal by the Department of Public Works and graffiti abatement.
Community Ambassadors
Highly trained Community Ambassadors walk the District, offering way-finding assistance pedestrian safety, and social service outreach 7 days a week, 7am to 7pm. Ambassadors are easy to spot in bright blue uniforms that ask, “How can we help?” The team is radioed in with a central dispatch office that logs all incoming calls, dispatches services and tracks completion.
Co-responder Safety Teams
MMCBD’s co-responder teams include an SFPD 10B Officer and a Community Ambassador who proactively walk targeted-areas in the District and respond to calls for service. Their combined expertise of the Officer and the Community Ambassador allows them to effectively and efficiently address pedestrian safety issues and link individuals in need with the appropriate services.
Economic Development
MMCBD helps attract and retain small businesses in the District. A list of available ground floor commercial retail spaces available in and around the District can be found here. The CBD also spearheads the annual More Than 2 Blocks of Art art walk on Market Street and other annual events and programs that promote District vitality.
